Δ Watch the Opening Sequence above. ∇ Check out some of my style frames and visual R&D below.
Δ We originally tried to place a more traditional title over a shot of Judd back stage.
Δ I needed to mock up a piece of the set that would display pictures from Judd’s past so we could see before construction what works.
Δ I prepped Judd’s photos to appear as though they were mounted in a old photo album. These were then projected on the stage set pieces.
I worked closely with Director Marcus Raboy and Star Judd Apatow on several visual aspects of Judd’s 1 Hour Netflix Special “Judd Apatow: The Return”. First we had to come up with a way to present the photos from Judds past, on stage, in an appealing way. We then had to work out the look and feel of the opening sequence. At first we tried straight forward titles over opening shots, but then I came up with a simple multi-cam sequence of sliced frames sliding in and out along with simple and bold title elements. It just felt right, so that’s what we went with. Enjoy!
